"I AM" is a complete sentence

When it comes to the words “I am”, we always seem to feel compelled to add something.

In fact, we don’t think it makes any sense without whatever it is we add.

We do not seem to be able to grasp that it is a complete sentence.

As Jim Carrey hilariously points out, we have failed to believe that we are enough just as we are.

We add "things" to the sentence "I am..."in our attempt to be some-thing and do some-thing to fix what cannot be fixed by any-thing...it can only be fixed by knowing...

In the ancient story of Moses and the burning bush, God appears to Moses in the form of a burning shrub! Moses asks God who he should tell people he's been speaking to and God replies "Tell them I AM has sent you."

"The subsequent desire to name, define, tribalise and make exclusive the "I AM" of this encounter, has been much of the cause of creating a religion rather than embracing a revelation."

Part of the reason we struggle in life is because we can't separate who we are from what we do. The fulfilment we're looking for in life comes from a revelation of "I AM".

In this clip, we see the events that led Megamind to choose his particular identity.

Just like Megamind's journey, the people and things we clash with on our trajectory often bump us in directions we did not choose or wish to go at the time. Our reaction to these bumps and traumas shows up in the forming of ego and an identity of who we feel we should be or need to be in order to be enough.

One could argue that the return to wholeness does not rest in the rediscovery of who god is, but the rediscovery of who I am?!

In this clip, we witness Megamind’s futile attempts at gaining love and acceptance by morphing into an image which is not his true self.

He ultimately finishes up having to fight the very creature he created, to become the person he was supposed to be.

When Roxanne touched his watch, Megamind's true self was revealed. What happens when our watch is touched?! Can we love who we are behind the disguises we put up? Can you love the real me?

This performance is from our online Halloween Masquerade special last year. Watch this space for this year's Halloween special on Saturday 30th October!

In the story of Jesus' temptation in the desert, he is challenged...

"If you are who you think you are, prove it!"

This was a temptation that Jesus resisted and we face that same challenge.

You are the most challenging devil that you'll meet in your desert!

The most powerful words you will ever speak are not those that follow "I am...", but simply "I AM" itself.
